On to Another Job and Place

Dear Blog,

It's been two years since my last outpouring.  I've been busy working.  Sorry.

I left Hawaii last June and have been some interesting places since.

Six months in Las Vegas taught me that I don't like Vegas, but now I'm in Wyoming where it's springtime and there is still snow on the ground.  I call it Purgatory.  Penance for living in Hawaii.

The up side is I'm making a lot of money.  As my boss says, I have enough money to burn a wet cow.  If everyone knew how easy it is to make this kind of money, they would be flocking to this career path.  Or maybe not.  I travel a lot.  I haven't seen my house for more than a week or two in the past 3 years.  I work in refineries and gas plants, which some would say is too dangerous.  I'm alone a lot although if I didn't mind supporting someone, I could bring them with me.  They would probably get bored, though, because I work 60 hour weeks.

But a person with good organizational skills, attention to details and the willingness to travel and learn new things could do my job easily.  And earn well over 6 figures.

I'm working on a quilt for my Significant Other's grandson.  I better get it done before he gets too old to use it.  The pattern is called 'Bug Jar' or 'I Spy Jar'.  It will be the first quilt I've done in 3 years.  I never made one in Hawaii because of all the dirt that blew into the apartment.  The windows were the jalousie type that never fully close (it's Hawaii after all, you don't need to close the windows).  However there was a construction site just upwind and all their dust blew into the house, covering everything with dirt.  It was frustrating to have to clean it up every single day.  So I did very little sewing except for a costume for the Dickens Fair.
